How to Check a Used Camera's Condition From the Photos Before You Buy

We do not publish a separate condition grade on our listings today, so the listing photos and title are what you judge the condition from before you pay. Here is what to look for in those photos, what they cannot show you, and how to confirm the rest before you check out.

No official condition grade - yet

Every camera on this store is pre-owned, and we do not yet publish a separate condition grade (like A/B/C) on our listings - judging the condition is still something you do from the photos and the title, the same way our own buying team does before a unit is listed. If that changes, this page will say so.

What to look at in the body photos

Zoom into the body shots for scratches, dents and paint wear at the grip and strap-lug corners, and any sign of a drop such as a bent hot-shoe or a chipped lens mount ring. On the screen and viewfinder, check for scratches or a dead-pixel patch in a photo where the display is switched on. If the photos show the battery and charger laid out next to the camera, that is a sign they are included with the unit - confirm anything not clearly shown with our team on WhatsApp rather than assuming it comes with the camera.

Checking a lens in the photos

For a lens, look through the front and rear elements in any photo shot against a light background or with a flash - haze, fungus (thin branching lines) and heavy dust specks usually show up this way, though a phone photo cannot always catch light scratches or the kind of internal dust that only a physical check would find. If the zoom and focus rings are shown at more than one position across the photos, that is a sign the mechanism was actually moved before the photos were taken, not just left resting in one spot.

What the photos cannot tell you

Photos cannot show shutter count, internal electronics, or a fault that only shows up in use - we do not publish a shutter count on any listing because this store does not record it per unit today. This is exactly why our return policy covers a genuine fault found after delivery: judge what you can actually see in the photos before you pay, and use the return window for anything that was not visible there.

Ask before you pay

If something is not clear in the existing photos - a mark on the body, the state of the lens glass, whether the charger is the original one - ask our team on WhatsApp for an extra photo or a short video call of the exact unit before you check out. See our guide on how we list a used camera for how we handle this kind of confirmation generally.

Payment, delivery and returns

Checkout on this store is full prepaid online payment; we do not offer cash on delivery or part payment at checkout. Delivery takes 3 to 10 days across India, or collect in person at our stores in Delhi, Pune and Chandigarh. If the condition turns out different from what the photos showed, our fault-only return policy applies: return within 7 days of delivery for an actual physical or internal fault, in the same condition you received it, with a ₹500 shipping charge deducted from the refund.

Questions buyers ask

Does sellyourgadget.shop grade the condition of each camera (A/B/C etc.)?

Not yet, on any of our live listings. Judge the condition from the listing photos and title, and ask our team on WhatsApp for more photos or a video call of the exact unit before you pay.

Can I ask for more photos of a specific part of the camera before buying?

Yes - message us on WhatsApp with the product link and we will send extra photos, or do a short video call, of the exact unit.

What if the camera's condition is different from what the photos showed, after I receive it?

Return it within 7 days of delivery if there is an actual physical or internal fault, in the same condition you received it. A ₹500 shipping charge is deducted from the refund. This does not cover a change of mind.

Do you list the shutter count for used cameras?

No, we do not track or publish shutter count per unit today, so it is not shown on any listing.
